LED screens for promotional efforts are now a common sight because of their powerful effectiveness. It is really hard to miss LED screens, especially when they are strategically placed in a busy location. It then comes to no surprise that many companies and businesses opt to use LED signs to promote their brand both indoors and outdoors.
There are endless options to consider for businesses that wish to use LED signages. Although the same design and technological principle are applied to both indoor and outdoor LED displays, they do have some important differences that set them apart. In addition, they do come with their own advantages and disadvantages.
One of the major differences between indoor and outdoor LED signages is with regard to size. Obviously, indoor LED signages tend to be relatively small and limited while outdoor signages are essentially endless in terms of size. Although some LED signs can be no bigger than a ticker board, some outdoor LED displays can be as large as an entire building.
This then comes as one of the great advantages of using LED signages. LED itself can come in a wide range of sizes, which makes for its distinct and sharp images. The size of the LED is determined by the size of the display signage itself.
Small displays will require small LEDs in order for the images and symbols to be clearly defined and constructed. Bigger displays would need to have a lot of LEDs. Although it may be possible for a huge outdoor LED billboard to use small LEDS, it would however be unnecessary and impractical.
Therefore, most large outdoor LED signages are made from a huge number of LED display panels. These LED display panels are then assembled to form an even larger panel. This process of customization is relatively the same in all processes that allow huge outdoor LED displays to be built.
A great advantage of having LED display indoors is that such digital signages have a targeted audience such as shoppers inside a mall who are willing to spend money. This may not be the same with an outdoor signage. However, outdoor LED signages can target a vast and cluttered target audience that may even bring in an entirely new target market a company never knew existed.
Another notable difference of outdoor LED signages would be their waterproof and storm resistant properties. In addition, such large signages should be able to function and withstand varying temperatures. Such outdoor signs should then be tested extensively before being allowed outdoors.
LED depends on electricity to function. Although not intensely hazardous, LEDs do use a lot of electricity so they should be proofed for wet weather and similar conditions. Although indoor signages must also be tested as well, they are generally not subject to testing at the same extremes.
Choosing to display an indoor or outdoor LED signage will always boil down to the purpose and aim of the brand and company. As long as the message of the dynamic display is pointed out clearly and effectively, displaying either indoors or outdoors may not even matter. Signs are made to make an impact so as long as that purpose is covered, your promotional efforts are good to go.
